The history of Sacred Heart Parish is meshed with the immigrants who poured through the gates of Ellis Island and the ports of Camden and Philadelphia during the late 1800's. These pioneer parishioners found their way to a poor waterfront community known as Southwark and demonstrated their values in faith and education by actually digging the cellar for Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and this has remained the cornerstone for over a century to the families in the area for spiritual growth.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Church attends to many of the needs of the families who keep the spirit of Catholic tradition alive and strong and filled with dedication. We welcome all to come and worship with us.
